![]() ![]() It took me about an hour to get the hang of it. ![]() Now, here comes the board!! I will say, you need to be prepared to fall a lot, drink lots of salt water, loose your hat and maybe even sun glasses, it was tough. I spent about 30 minutes working on the body dragging. Day 2, when I arrived there was a kite already set up so I got a belt and head into the water. I wasnt paying attention and went so far out that when I looked back he was coming to get me I was wayyyy out. Once you get far out he will come get you in a small boat. Once in the water he stood behind me and showed me how to let the kite drag me in the water, this was so much fun. You start off with a small kite on the beach, once you get the hang of it he showed me how to set up a big kite and get strapped in, then into the water you go. He was super friendly, had tons of patience, and he knew his stuff. Upon arrival I met "Columbia" my instructor. I couldnt see why 4 lessons would possibly be needed until i tried it. I didn't have 4 days in a row for lessons which is recommended, but I had 2 so he set me up with a private lessons. I contacted Armando prior to coming to Aruba, he was prompt and communicated well. His great understanding of the local weather (mainly wind, water, reef) made me feel at ease learning new water sports! Check him out! I highly recommend this vendor with no reservations. We received personal instruction that reflected the local "flair". I am so happy that I chose to do business with Armando rather than with the larger "DePalm" tours. On water, Armando taught us how to turn the boat, and made us perform a number of turns until we got them correct! We sailed for over and hour and a half, and we even made a couple of pit-stops grabbing some drinks from his friends with larger boats! The guests on the larger boats I feel were jealous of the fun WE were having on the smaller vessel. He did not let us out onto the water until we had a land lesson - discussing wind variables, safety, and various aspects of the boat. The next day, after our great experience paddle boarding, we decided to take sailing lessons. It was a great time and wonderful workout! That showed me that he didn't just take my cash, throw me in the water, and risk me getting hurt. In fact, he took me out of the water twice and "edited" my form. ![]() Armando was patient, clear with his instructions, and insisted that our form while paddle boarding was consistent and correct. As a teacher myself, I always prefer an audience of children, because let's face it, adults don't listen. We met Armando while investigating the island earlier, and our first impression was outstanding! Little did we know, that Armando would further impress us with his patience teaching us not only to "Paddle Board" but we also arranged for some sailing lessons. After a couple of lavish dinners out, I decided a fun "cardio" activity was needed to help drown out some calories. My husband and I visited Aruba in late August. ![]()
